Outline of 10th Grade English
Welcome to Honors English II, the second, but the most vital, class in your high school English career. This year, your EOC carries more weight than others in the high school English curriculum. This class will focus intently on understanding literary devices, close reading through annotation, increasing writing ability through practice and drafting, and understanding various sections of world literature through their cultural contexts. Think of this class as a way to explore the world while learning about reading and writing :)

- European Lit- Night by Eli Wiesel and Maus by Art Spiegelman
- Shakespearean Lit- Hamlet
- Modern Drama- Rosencrantz and Guildenstern are Dead by Tom Stoppard
- African Lit- Things Fall Apart by Chinua Achebe
- Latin American Lit- The House of the Spirits by Isabelle Allende, In the Time of the Butterflies by Julia Alverez, The Alchemist by Paulo Caulo, Like Water for Chocolate by Laura Esquivel
- Middle Eastern Literature-Persepolis by Marjane Satrapi
